The inaugural large-scale event of the “International Sheng and Reeds Festival 2026,” “Endless Sheng, Thousand Reeds in Harmony Marathon” and outdoor evening concert, was successfully held on March 22 at the Kai Tak Sports Park in Hong Kong. Organized by the Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra(“HKCO”), the event brought together 1,230 enthusiasts of reed instruments from both East and West performing in unison, successfully setting a new Guinness World Record for the Largest Free‑Reed Instrument Ensemble. As one of the participating organizations, Shun Tak Group brought together over 20 Cultural Ambassadors to play the sheng and take part in the Sheng Marathon ensemble, connecting communities through music and witnessing the world record being set firsthand.
The Group has long been dedicated to preserving outstanding Chinese culture and fulfilling its corporate social responsibility through concrete actions. As early as January this year, the Group partnered with HKCO to launch the “Harmony in Diversity” program. As one of the Group’s flagship community investment projects for 2026, the initiative successfully brought together over 20 Cultural Ambassadors from diverse community backgrounds, including colleagues and their families, primary and secondary school students, community partners, retirees and persons with disabilities, who learned to play the sheng under the guidance of musicians from HKCO. On the day of the Sheng Marathon, our Cultural Ambassadors joined hands with over a thousand performers to play “Thousand Reeds in Harmony”, a new work by renowned Hong Kong composer Ng Cheuk-yin, successfully adding another world-class honor to Hong Kong.
The Group is deeply honored to witness this historic moment together with our Cultural Ambassadors, convey the spirit of inclusiveness through music and reflect the community vision we adhere to: inclusiveness and harmony, community connection and cultural inheritance. Looking ahead, the Group will continue to walk alongside the community, taking concrete actions to promote the passing down of outstanding traditional Chinese culture from generation to generation, actively encourage community participation and work hand in hand to build a diverse and inclusive society.
