Building on its “Tourism+” development strategy, Shun Tak Group continues to integrate culture, the arts, tourism, and lifestyle elements to create deeper cultural experiences for cities and communities through high-quality content and diverse settings. NEW BUND 31, the Group’s flagship mixed-use development in Shanghai, has long fostered the integration of culture, the arts, and commerce. It has recently signed a comprehensive three-year strategic collaboration agreement with Hong Kong Ballet. Drawing on their respective resources and strengths across the Chinese Mainland, Hong Kong, and overseas markets, the two parties will explore new pathways for integrating “Culture + Commerce + Technology” and strengthen cultural and artistic exchange between Shanghai and Hong Kong.
Over the next three years, the two parties will collaborate across four key areas: Arts Research and Practice, Annual Landmark Productions, Coordinated Brand Engagement, and Collaborative Innovation Across the Cultural Industries. The partnership aims to bridge the gap between high art and everyday life, bringing ballet into the fabric of urban life and offering the public richer, more interactive arts and cultural experiences.
The two parties will jointly establish the “Hong Kong Ballet Arts Research and Practice Base” as a dedicated platform for arts education, practical training, and cultural exchange. Hong Kong Ballet will regularly delegate teaching and creative teams to conduct ballet classes, arts workshops, and creative seminars. NEW BUND 31 will provide venues, supporting facilities, and promotional support, creating more opportunities for emerging young artists, dance enthusiasts, and the wider community to experience and participate in ballet. The base will further enrich NEW BUND 31’s integrated cultural and commercial ecosystem of “Art, Creativity, Life.”
Following partnerships with cultural and arts institutions including the Shanghai Theatre Academy and SMG Live, Hong Kong Ballet has become another long-term strategic cultural partner of NEW BUND 31, further strengthening the development’s position as a cultural landmark in Shanghai. Gu Qing, CEO of Shun Tak Group China and General Manager of NEW BUND 31, said: “Hong Kong Ballet is a leading and highly influential ballet company in the Asia-Pacific region. As a new cultural landmark in Shanghai, NEW BUND 31 has long been committed to building an innovative ecosystem that brings together ‘Art + Commerce + Technology.’ Guided by the principles of mutual benefit and complementary strengths, we are embarking on a comprehensive three-year strategic collaboration. This partnership not only brings together high-quality cultural resources from Shanghai and Hong Kong, but also marks an important step in NEW BUND 31’s efforts to deliver on its responsibility as a cultural landmark and explore new ways to integrate ballet with commerce.”
Looking ahead, the Group will continue to advance its “Tourism+” strategy in line with national efforts to deepen the integration of culture and tourism. By bringing diverse cultural activities into commercial and tourism settings, the Group aims to enrich urban cultural and tourism offerings and inject new vitality into cities’ cultural life. Building on this artistic collaboration between Shanghai and Hong Kong, the Group will also deepen cooperation between the two cities’ cultural industries and promote high-quality cultural exchange.
