Shun Tak Group has been rooted in Hong Kong and Macao for more than 60 years and has always upheld its commitment to caring for the community and giving back to society, actively fulfilling its corporate social responsibility. Believing that care for society begins with every colleague, the Group encourages colleagues to step beyond the workplace and take part in volunteer services, bringing care into the community, building bridges between generations and helping to create an inclusive, harmonious and caring community. In celebration of the Mid-Autumn Festival, Shun Tak Group (Macau) organized the “Mid-Autumn Elderly Heartwarming Volunteer Activity.” Colleagues from different departments visited Caritas Macau’s Asilo de São Francisco Xavier to spend time with the residents and celebrate the festival in advance, putting the values of care and intergenerational inclusion into action.
The event took place in a warm and cheerful atmosphere, with the home decorated with Mid-Autumn lanterns for the occasion. To connect with the residents, the volunteers prepared a selection of classic songs to perform live. The familiar melodies brought back fond memories and struck a chord with the residents, who clapped along to the rhythm and sang with the volunteers, filling the room with applause and laughter. To make sure every resident could join in and enjoy the festivities, the volunteers then took lyric sheets and microphones to the residents’ side, inviting them to sing along and share a joyful time together. During the activity, one resident also gave an impromptu piano performance, and her skillful playing drew enthusiastic applause from the room, a touching moment of joy shared across generations.
Toward the end of the activity, the volunteers personally presented gift bags and Mid-Autumn wishes to each of the more than 50 residents in attendance. Thoughtfully prepared with the residents’ needs in mind, the gift bags included festive mooncakes, food suited for the elderly such as oatmeal, and a range of practical daily necessities, combining care with practicality. Residents unable to attend also received the same festive gift, ensuring that every resident of the home was included. Caritas Macau’s Asilo de São Francisco Xavier presented a certificate of appreciation to Shun Tak Group (Macau) in recognition of the Group’s care and kindness toward its residents. To close the activity, the volunteers and residents gathered for group photos, bringing this community care activity to a heartwarming end.
The Group sincerely thanks all colleagues for their enthusiastic participation and for bringing warmth and joy to the residents through small acts of care, and extends its gratitude to Caritas Macau’s Asilo de São Francisco Xavier for its support and assistance. Going forward, the Group will continue to encourage colleagues to take an active part in volunteer services and to work with different social welfare organizations on more community initiatives, promoting intergenerational inclusion and mutual support and continuing to give back to Macao society.
